Pasquale Bolognese has worked in behavioral teaching and developmental disability services for more than two decades. He earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Psychology from St. John's University in 1995 and a Master of Science (M.S.) in Applied Behavior Analysis from Capella University in 2020.

He is Clinical Director and co-founder of Supportive Steps Services, an organization providing individualized services to people with developmental disabilities and varied learning needs. His professional experience includes behavioral consultation and direct teaching of functional communication, emotional regulation, independent living skills, community safety, social interaction, and other essential life skills. His work also involves developing individualized visual supports and collaborating closely with families, caregivers, residential providers, and community programs.

Through years of direct teaching and observation, Bolognese became increasingly interested in the difference between what an instructor intends to teach and what a learner actually recognizes, remembers, and uses. His work with individualized visual and behavioral teaching approaches contributed to the development of Visual Motor Learning (VML), a framework that emphasizes meaningful connections, the learner's perspective, and the practical application of skills in everyday life.

Building on this framework, Bolognese developed the concept for VML Buddy, an application designed to help parents and caregivers create individualized visual teaching experiences. VML Buddy brings the principles of Visual Motor Learning into an accessible format, helping caregivers make teaching more relevant to the individual's experiences, communication needs, and everyday challenges.

Supportive Steps Services and Visual Motor Learning serve distinct purposes. Supportive Steps Services provides direct services to individuals with developmental disabilities, while Visual Motor Learning is the teaching framework Bolognese developed. VML Buddy is a technology-based application of that framework.

His writing and technology development share a common purpose: to connect established behavioral and educational principles with practical approaches that help parents, caregivers, educators, and the individuals they support make learning more meaningful and useful in everyday life.
